Silent Weekend
"Silent Weekend is an optional concept in SAY Soccer's diversified support system. It is being implemented by several SAYAreas around the country, most notably West Central Ohio Soccer Association. This event is implemented to place a spotlight on participants other than the kids participating in the game. Silent Weekend's purpose is to bring the focus back on the children and allow them to participate uninterrupted by spectators and coaches. Whether your league has experienced distracting and sometimes disruptive behavior from the sidelines or not, Silent Weekend can be a loads of fun for the players and entertaining for all that embrace the idea. Like many of the offerings at SAY, you can choose to implement this optional concept into your soccer schedule at anytime you choose."
- Doug Wood, SAY National Marketing/Operations Director
Here is what Brian Esser, SAY Area President had to say about running the Silent Weekend:
"West Central Ohio Soccer
Association (WCOSA) has implemented a program that helps demonstrate proper
behavior at matches by coaches, players and spectators. While WCOSA does not
currently have a problem with behavior, a reminder every year is an useful tool
for new participants and returning league members. "Kids Having Fun” is much
more than just a slogan and WCOSA uses tools like this to reinforce our goals
at every opportunity."
